Caring4Cal, launched by the California Department of Health Care Access and Information, is a comprehensive program targeting Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers, offering free training, coaching, and incentives up to $2,750 to enhance and expand the HCBS workforce, ultimately improving healthcare access and quality across the state.

An aging population and an increase in chronic diseases has increased the demand for licensed or certified home healthcare providers as well as Community Health Workers (CHWs). Each year the need continues to grow, placing further strain on the existing workforce that is already stretched thin. Clients often prefer care in the home and patient outcomes are consided as good and, at times, better than in other settings.
Yes, taking a Caring4Cal course comes at no cost to participants. This means that home care providers and community care providers who are interested in advancing their careers and skills can access a wide range of training opportunities without any financial burden.

Certainly! Getting paid for taking Caring4Cal courses is a straightforward process, provided you meet the eligibility criteria. To mee the criteria you must be a current home care provider, community care provider, or Community Health Worker (CHW) working in home- and community-based settings, or have an interest in becoming a Home- and Community-Based Services care provider.
Caring4Cal training courses provide participants with the opportunity to pursue certification or licensure in the Home- and Community-Based Services healthcare sector, offering a flexible course catalog aligned with career goals, certification/licensure programs
Courses will be available in English and/or Spanish. Some courses may be offered in Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Haitian, Haitian Creole, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, or Russian. Additional languages may be added as they become available, to support as many home care providers as possible.
