• Be a California resident 18 years or older
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Be legally authorized to work in the US
• Not be enrolled in another HCBS training program funded by the state

After confirming eligibility, you can proceed with Caring4Cal CNA certification by following these steps:

1. Access Caring4Cal‘s Online CNA path and course catalog 

• As a state-approved CNA certification program, Caring4Cal includes at least 160 hours of training, with 60 hours of theory and 100 hours of clinical experience

1. Register and enroll:

• Visit Caring4Cal’s website and complete the registration process
• Choose the desired courses and submit any required documents

1. Complete the training:

• Attend classes and actively participate 
• Complete all required coursework and practical skills demonstrations

1. Pass the CNA certification exam:

• After finishing  training, you will need to register for the National Nurse Aide Testing Program (NNAAP) exam

1. Apply for state licensure:

• Once you pass the NNAAP exam, you will submit an application for CNA licensure to the California Department of Public Health
